LEGEND
| |
DIPATLONG ( 1902 ) - During the Spanish era,
Spanish officials were sent across the islands throughout the Philippines
to list down the names of places where groups of people settled and
register the names of its inhabitants. When the Spanish officials
reached this place, they asked the settlers the name of the village.
One settler who was cutting a Damitlong tree answered Damitlong, thinking
that the Spaniards were asking the name of the tree. The Spanish officials
wrongly heard it as Dipatlong and listed it as the name of the place.
The place is now named Dipatlong, deribed from the trees called Damitlong.
